Blackthorn fruits contain numerous organic acids, vitamin C, pectins, carbohydrates, fibre, tannins and mineral salts, such as: calcium, phosphorus and iron. They are a source of natural antioxidants and flavonoids that, similarly to tannins, show anti-inflammatory properties. Blackthorn has an anti-diarrhoeal effect and kills bacteria in the digestive system.
