DESCRIPTION

Compared with other insects, mealworms contain the greatest amount of exogenous amino acids, such as lysine, leucine, valine, methionine and tryptophan, which make them a source of complete protein. In animal nutrition, they fully meet animals’ amino acid intake requirement. Mealworm larvae are also high in unsaturated fatty acids, such as oleic and linoleic acid. Complete protein is a dietary essential for rodents and plays an important role in the diet of pregnant and young female rodents. High amounts of valuable fatty acids protect animals against heart disease and cancer.
